I've recently had been surprised about the ordeal of a well respected breeder in the hands of a disrespectful impolite moderator in DTO.

I have done forum moderating myself.  And I know when and when not to be lenient in implementing the rules.

The issue if about copyright infringement.  The person involved posted an article.  However this article was originally derived from a mailing list and the sources were not cited.  DTO rules prescribe that articles sources be posted or the articles be deemed removed or revised by the mods.

I saw that the article was also paraphrased as I read the original article.  It has been modified somewhat by the person who posted.

Granting that the poster did not realize that there was an original source because he took it from a mailing list the moderator, in her capacity and power should have.

A) Notified the person involved temporarily removed the article (they have powers to edit) and gave the user ample time to research on the sources of the article (it did not take me 10 seconds to Google it)
B) Treat this as an honest mistake instead of locking the entire thread, directly edit the article, I presume she knew where the sources were and she could at least have just indicated the source.  Save us from all the brouhahas.

Finally I'd like to emphasize that moderators need to MODERATE they do not start fights or arguments. They need to inhibit themselves from their emotion and be objective about things.

Another fact is that DTO is TEEMING with copyright infringement ALL OVER the site.  I see articles on books scanned and posted in imageshack/photobucket without even asking for WRITTEN permission from authors.  This is truly disgusting as they seem like selectively implementing the rules.  There is only one word to describe it.  HYPOCRITES.

There is such at term in the internet called fair-use and safe passage when using intellectual property.  Some articles/images may be used under a certain criteria.  Maybe they should read and know when to properly implement rules.
